My Story

My story

​After many years of thinking that I ate a pretty healthful diet, I realised that it wasn’t exactly the case.
But it took me a long time to work that out and I paid the price in my health with various disorders, ranging from blinding headaches and leaky gut, to my wake up call, malignant melanoma.
 
I knew that I desperately needed to make some changes in my lifestyle and diet, yet I really didn’t know where to turn. There was so much conflicting information out there. Was I really supposed to continue consuming the large amounts of dairy that I was eating and drinking every day? The women in my family all suffered from osteoporosis and here I was, just into my 40s with herniated discs and being told that I had the same disease that had crippled both my grandmothers. Suddenly milk didn’t seem like it had been doing its job. Yet I was told, “it’s hereditary”, and “take these painkillers”, and “eat more dairy.”
I was in constant pain, and by now suffering from multiple ailments. In short, even though I didn’t necessarily look it, I was a total mess. The only thing I had going for me was the strong will to learn and find a solution, if there was one.
I began scouring books and the Internet for information on how to prevent and cure disease. All I can say is it’s a real headache trying to separate the science-based information from the myths and misconceptions.
​So I decided to go back to school and study nutrition and natural health, first of all taking the Professor Emeritus of Nutrition T. Colin Campbell, PhD. Plant-Based Nutrition Certification Course and later earning myself the titles of Certified Nutrition Counsellor and EFT International Accredited Advanced EFT Practitioner.​

With my newly acquired knowledge I began to take charge of my health and slowly but surely, see results.
I began talking about nutrition with anyone who would listen (and with some who wouldn’t).
The more people I spoke to, the more I realised that whilst many people really do want to make changes in their diet and lifestyle, they just don’t know where to start.

​There is a wilderness out there regarding real nutrition, and when I say ‘real’ I mean not fad diets, not powdered meals that come in boxes, not money-making schemes that will just line the pockets of who you are paying and deplete you both health-wise and monetarily.
I mean nutrition regarding real food and eating properly. Something that is so powerful and so crucial to our health, yet somehow we have lost touch with it.

Lovingly Plant-based is born

The name 'Lovingly' represents compassion, towards our animals, our planet, ourselves and others.
​Here at Lovingly Plant-based, you can learn why we need to be putting more veggies on our plates and how to transition to a plant-based diet in simple steps. 
It's not only about what you cut out of your diet, rather more about what you add to it.

You may have arrived here because your doctor has told you that you need to lose weight, or maybe you’ve recently been diagnosed with a disease, or maybe you’re looking for information to fine-tune your vegan diet, or maybe you're just looking for someone to guide you and walk beside you during your wellness journey.
Whether you are an omnivore, herbivore, vegan or whatever, let’s drop the labels for the moment and focus on health and the benefits and the pleasure of eating well.​
So this website, with as much up-to-date, scientifically proven information as possible and lots of easy to follow recipes and tips, is my gift, from me to you.
