Our skin is our largest organ and absorbs a lot of what we put on it. Just think of nicotine patches or hormone patches.

Did you know that the majority of skincare products available in stores contain harmful ingredients which are absorbed into our blood stream within SECONDS?

I was horrified to read that in 2005, the Environmental Working Group published two studies that found toxic chemicals in the umbilical cord blood of newborn babies. 'They screened for more than 400 chemicals, and incredibly 287 toxins were detected within the umbilical cord blood of these newborns. Of these 287 chemicals, 217 were neurotoxins, and 208 are known to damage growth development or cause birth defects.'

Other tests reveal that adolescent girls are being contaminated with harmful chemicals that are commonly used in skincare and cosmetics. In blood and urine samples taken from girls between the ages of 14-19 EWG detected 16 chemicals which have potential health effects including cancer and hormone disruption.

I don't know about you, but I find this rather worrying.

Before discovering Tropic, I had always tried to use 'natural' products, but either reacted badly to them or they simply didn't make any difference whatsoever to my skin.
